Youth Teams
Youth Programs: The CSIC youth group is currently made up of four teams: An Art team, Sportsl Team, and Media Team, that meet from 11 am to 2 pm just before the CSIC community dinners each month. Each team has an adult leader and the parent(s) need to stay with the groups when they are meeting. The students choose which team they want to work on each time they come. Several times a year, two teams will work together on a common project.
The last 30 minutes of the youth group features an invited adult community person to speak, demonstrate or involve the students in some cultural activity. The early comers to the community dinner that follows may also be joining them for this activity, especially the elders
In addition to the monthly meeting, the youth and their adult leaders plan together one trip and one community project for each quarter. The youth are doing all the fund raising to support their activities. All activities are planned to help meet the CSIC seven objectives for youth programs:
To Promote: Leadership, Community Service, Culture, Self Esteem, Physical, spiritual and mental health, Taking Care of Mother Earth and Valuing Family
Each family in the program gets a blue packet to keep their hands-outs and CSIC contact information in. Each month, they also get their own family copy of just the youth pages from the Camp Crier Newsletter, which the youth media team helps to create, along with the youth editors. They are also given a regularly updated youth roster with family contact info on all the students so they or their parents can keep in touch. This roster is divided so that each family is on someone’s call list so we can keep the families informed about upcoming events and news. Usually around five or six families are on any given call list.
See the individual youth team sections on this websites for more information on each of the youth teams.
